Tron founder and CEO, Justin Sun says he’ll reschedule the charity crypto lunch that was to be held in July with Berkshire Hathaway chairman and Billionaire Warren Buffett. According to Sun, the much talked about lunch will be held very soon, a message that he delivered on September 24 Livestream.
Justin Sun had won a charity auction on eBay back in June to have lunch with Buffett, and also got to choose his own guests to bring along to the lunch. Sun won the lunch after a winning bid of $4,567,888 which is the highest bid in the event’s 20 year history. Unfortunately, just a few days before the event; Sun had to postpone due to illness. This meant that Sun’s high power guests such as Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, and Litecoin creator Charlie Lee, would have to wait a little longer to have a sit down with Bitcoin cynic, Warren Buffett.
Just before the postponement of the crypto lunch, Sun had also sent an invite to United States president Donald Trump, following the president’s damning remarks on cryptocurrencies.
“Mr. President, you are misled by fake news. #Bitcoin & #Blockchain happens to be the best chance for US! I’d love to invite you to have lunch with crypto leaders along with @WarrenBuffett on July 25. I guarantee you after this lunch; nobody will know crypto more than you!”
The president did not give a public response to Sun’s invitation. Sun knows very well that endorsements from these powerful individuals would make crypto more popular. Crypto will probably be hard to sell to Billionaire Warren Buffett given the stances he has made on them. He famously referred to Bitcoin as “ probably Rat poison squared” in 2018, he later went on to make this remarks;
“It [Bitcoin] doesn’t do anything. It just sits there. It’s like a seashell or something, and that is not an investment to me.”
Still, Justin and his guests had hoped to convince the Billionaire to soften his stance by making him see all the developments crypto has put into motion. If the crypto lunch materializes as expected and is received well by the Billionaire, maybe an upturn will be seen in the crypto markets thanks to the clout that Buffett has.
