An exclusive by popular crypto publication, coin desk, reveals that the pioneering coder to work alongside Bitcoin’s Pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto, Martti Malmi, who also goes by the name, “Sirius” is back on the scene. He will join forces with a team of developers who are plotting the launch of a new crypto-currency which will be known as AXE. The new project which already has elicited rumors of excitement while combining Malmi’s ‘identifi’ online reputation system with a decentralized database system known as ‘GUN’ which seeks to achieve the long-pursued goal of decentralization of the web. Malmi’s history with regard to crypto should intrigue anyone who looks into it.
Back in 2009 when Malmi was just an amateur college developer, he gained Satoshi Nakamoto’s trust and became heavily involved in the early days of Bitcoin’s development. He was the only active developer at the time to work side by side with Satoshi. Satoshi trusted him to the extent of granting him access to the website Bitcoin.org. Malmi utilized this privilege well and is credited for effecting most of the changes in Bitcoin’s second code release. After interacting with Bitcoin for a while Malmi opted to leave the project thinking it no longer needed his services since there were already so many new developers involved in the project by the time of his departure.
Malmi would later start a project of his on in 2014 known as identifi backed by a decentralized architecture which didn’t include crypto at first. The purpose of the project was to reduce the control giant web businesses such as Google, Airbnb, eBay, and Facebook had. He, however, found that his initiative still needed much tweaking noting that large online companies like Google, Airbnb, Facebook and eBay used centralized indexes and the only way to disrupt them was through decentralized indexing. Noting the gaps in his project, he hooked with a colleague known as Mark Nadal to work on a new project called ERA.
Nadal and Malmi later became wary of how governments were blacklisting Bitcoin miners IP addresses as well as Telecom companies and decided to come up with a new project known as AXE. While the decentralized services are certainly slower than centralized ones, Nadal argues that the decentralized projects have a bright future. Malmi is also of the belief that identifi can help decentralize the system even more. The new crypto token AXE; will facilitate true decentralization by allowing different people to run the database systems from all around the world. Despite being a pioneer developer of Bitcoin, he is skeptical about it.
He believes the coin is being overhyped and being pushed for applications that do not need it. He instead throws his weight behind ERA, stating that it went about incorporating crypto into the decentralized web in the right way. Malmi and Nadal insist that Axe is more scalable than other crypto technologies out there and that it will be a technology that people will want to use.
