A new Ethereum phone called Ethos is driving a lot of crypto enthusiasts crazy. Apparently, the potential of having a decentralized phone is what is driving the frenzy. But it looks like this new phone is performing better than the Solana blockchain.

• The web 3 space contains different inventions intending to make things as decentralized as possible. Already, the major motive of web 3 is to bring the power of the internet back to the people. One of the ways they hope to achieve this is through the creation of decentralized phones. 
• This is where this Ethereum Phone comes in. Apparently, the hype around this phone made it sell out in less than 24 hours. The ethOS phone is the first mobile device to support EVM-based chains and layer 2s. There’s so much hype around this phone due to what it wants to achieve. Furthermore, the hype around this phone made it sell out its pre-sale in less than 24 hours.  

More Details About the Ethereum Phone 

• This is quite huge for the Ethereum Community. Moreover, this phone is a new version of the Android-based Google Pixel 7a running on the Ethereum-native mobile operating system, ethOS. The improvements on this phone makes it so compatible with the crypto industry. 
• There’s a light Ethereum client, allowing it to verify blocks on its own and interact with the Ethereum network. So, this Ethereum phone helps crypto users to leave the centralized structures. Their dependency on centralized infrastructure like Infura or Alchemy will reduce. There’s also an in-built wallet on this phone that allows interaction with other blockchains. On the phone, there’s also a secure enclave designed to store and encrypt private keys safely. 
• Apparently, during the pre-sale of this Ethereum phone, only about 50 were available. To buy this phone during the pre-sale, you must mint an ethOS NFT and burn it to claim  the Ethereum phone. 

Solana Phone Goes Down in Value

• While the Ethereum phone continues to touch new heights, it seems the reverse is the case for Solana. Apparently, the Solana Saga has the same objectives as the Ethereum phone. They all aim at bringing web3 closer to the people. 
• But this Solana phone is suffering from poor sales. Since April 2023, only 2,120 units have been sold. This is according to data coming from FlipsideCrypto. Moreover, the developers of this phone already cut the price from $1,000 to around $599 this month. 

Conclusion 

There are a lot of reactions to the new niche of crypto phones. Apparently, crypto phones are becoming a norm, as many developers aim to bring the blockchain closer to enthusiasts. The Ethereum phone recently launched, selling out all of its pre-sales. On the other hand, Solana phones aren’t doing much after selling 2000 units since April. However, it is still too early to judge until the Ethereum phone fully launches.
