The original or ancestor of all cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin, got some props from the original or ancestor of all popular white rappers, Eminem, on a record likely to feature in his next album. This is a case of yet another mainstream celebrity showing awareness of how crypto is beginning to disrupt the global world order. Previously, the controversial Kanye West who happens to be President Donald Trump’s new best friend had also given props to Bitcoin and crypto while stressing the importance of decentralization. His popular wife Kim Kardashian West had also given much-needed publicity to Bitcoin on her Instagram page after she received a gift of 1 Bitcoin from the popular crypto enthusiast, Matthew Roszak.
An endorsement from Eminem though is quite a big deal since he is regarded as a more thoughtful rapper in comparison to most of the present day rappers in the game. The rapper who shot to prominence after the 8-mile movie and fame has been regarded as one in the same mold of legends Jay-Z and Nas. The rapper has himself shared his admiration for both Jay-Z and Nas stating that they had paved way for him in the rap game. Eminem also gave props to Treach from Naughty by nature in a hip-hop documentary by Ice T, but above all though, he shared his admiration and deepest gratitude to fallen Rapper Tupac Shakur, who inspired him to become a rapper since he related to his story and rap style.
Eminem has known to be diverse in his range of rap topics, talking about heartbreak, his and his mom’s drug problem as well as thoughts of killing his girlfriend. His latest album known as “Kamikaze” which was announced on Friday the 31st features another popular rapper Royce da 5’9 whom he has collaborated with in previous projects and featured alongside in award show ciphers such as the BET hip-hop awards 2012 cipher. On a record in the new album, Royce da 5’9 did a line that stated “Remember everybody used to bite a nickel, now everybody doing Bitcoin”
That statement was an acknowledgment of Bitcoin’s rising influence in contemporary culture. Bitcoin is no longer something pursued by computer nerds and programmers but a phenomenon that is finding its way into the mainstream. Eminem and Kanye are not the only music stars that have given Crypto some serious shine. Akon, another popular star has gone as far as creating his own crypto known as Akoin that will be used in his own crypto city. Another rapper, 50 cent had also admitted to being a holder of Bitcoins worth several million dollars after he accepted payment for his record “animal ambition” by Bitcoin. He later denied having ever had any Bitcoin holdings in a court appearance in February.
