Technology in Uttar Pradesh is being promoted by the Department of Science and Technology. More than 100 relevant research projects, including those involving blockchain technology and artificial intelligence, have recently been approved. These programs are overseen by prestigious universities including KGMU, MNNIT, and IIT-Kanpur. Their common goal is to improve the state of affairs in fields such as renewable energy and healthcare.
Landmark Approval Meeting
Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh administration declared back in July that they want to use information technology and artificial intelligence to transform a few major towns into very intelligent places. Thus, the Science and Technology Department’s principal secretary, Narendra Bhooshan, presided over a meeting in Lucknow on October 5, 2023. A staggering 109 study suggestions were approved by them. It is the highest number of approvals they have ever received. The approximate cost of these initiatives is Rs 14 crore.
Transforming Occupational Health

We are aware that prolonged desk work can lead to certain health issues, such as spondylitis and back discomfort. Don’t worry, though; the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj, has been requested by the Council to develop a unique posture correction system that makes use of AI, ML, and IoT. We will be able to know in real time whether our posture is incorrect thanks to this system. Hence, it will serve as a gentle reminder to sit up straight the next time we’re slouching or sitting in an awkward posture.
Treating Cancer Delay and Tumors
The design and development of various systems for various applications is the focus of these research projects. To aid those with impairments and throat cancer, for example, an app and customized wheelchairs are being developed. The very knowledgeable individuals at IIT-Kanpur have observed that those who smoke and use “paan” have a longer time to detect cancer. So, they will be the first to develop an app that combines artificial intelligence and advanced imaging to detect cancer at an early stage. Doctors will be able to save lives and discover it sooner because of this.

The Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped in Kanpur is working on another wonderful concept. A wheelchair that you operate with a customized helmet is being developed. This wheelchair leverages the IoT and artificial intelligence, making it extremely high-tech. It’s like having a robot companion that can transport you anywhere you choose.
A new project is being worked on by the King George Medical University located in Lucknow. A new type of MRI that can assist medical professionals in identifying and diagnosing kidney tumors is being developed using machine learning. It functions similarly to a very intelligent computer that can diagnose problems with renal images.
Renewable Energy Research
Additionally, the government funds research on renewable energy sources. The JSS Academy located in Noida is developing an IoT and blockchain microcontroller system. With this sophisticated technology, residents in a neighborhood will be able to utilize excess solar energy produced by their neighbors. It’s similar to giving everyone access to the sun’s power.
Drones and artificial intelligence are being used by Rohilkhand University in Bareilly to monitor solar energy-using enterprises. Their goal is to ensure that everything operates well and without hiccups. It’s being done to inspect and assess the performance of the solar panels.
Through the implementation of these measures, Uttar Pradesh hopes to establish a long-term sustainable environment that fosters innovation, draws talent and investment, and keeps the state at the forefront of blockchain and artificial intelligence developments.
