The block chain space has undergone a metamorphosis over the last few years as we ease gradually towards what seems like an inevitable crypto boom and blockchain adoption. The developments in crypto have led to the birth of the new block chain-enabled smartphone. This came after months of murmurs and speculation until Taiwan based Electronics Company HTC Corp decided to put everyone out of their misery. This new release is not only aesthetically pleasing but also quite useful to crypto enthusiasts. This new block chain-enabled smartphone will enable users to store crypto securely offline while also acting as a compute node for maintaining a blockchain network.
This new smartphone which has captured the minds of a lot of people in the crypto community is expected to have the capability of working with several blockchain protocols which will enable interoperability among the protocols. In the device’s marketing material, HTC communicated a desire to double and eventually triple the number of nodes for bitcoin and ethereum. Apart from allowing for interoperability among different protocols, the new block chain-enabled smartphone will allow its users to play a decentralized app game known as Crypto Kitties which can run across different nodes on peer to peer P2P networks.
As it is now HTC may just cross the line to become the first company to release a blockchain enabled smartphone beating Sirin Labs from Switzerland who plan to release their 800 to 1000 dollar blockchain enabled smartphone in September of this year. According to Phil Chen, HTC’S chief crypto officer, the release of the HTC Exodus block chain enabled smartphone expected this quarter has already secured thousands of reservations from all around the world. The HTC Exodus block chain enabled smartphone will have a host of attractive features; chief among them will be an inbuilt crypto cold storage wallet which will be ideal for storing ethereum, bitcoin and other digital currencies. This will be possible in an open source and free of charge block chain. The same features will be present in the product to be released by Sirin this September.
HTC’S biggest rival in the block chain smartphone space will be Sirin. Sirin which started its block chain smartphone project with a 100 million dollar ICO will run its open source operating system SIRIN OS. Moshe Hogeg, CEO of Sirin, is of the opinion that block chain technology won’t enjoy mass adoption until user experience is improved. He further added that crowdfunding went a long way in helping his company provide a great experience for its customers. Their android based Finney smartphone will enable fast peer to peer payments. The Finney device has a great security mechanism which will see the turning off of all unencrypted communications.
Sirin’s smartphone will include a Snapdragon 845 processor and a 2TB storage capacity. HTC has not given away much about its product features but it is expected that it will be special with HTC seeking to restore its lost glory.
