Music producer Akon is set to launch a massive Blockchain initiative in Kenya. The initiative will be a joint effort between his Blockchain startup AKOIN and Dutch owned Effect.AI. The effort has been dubbed the “Kenyan Opportunity Hub” with its aim being to promote Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence. The initiative also aims at helping to provide employment opportunities to young Kenyans.
AKOIN to oversee project
The ambitious project is set to launch in Q4 of 2020 is set to be handled by Akon’s philanthropic arm, the Akon Foundation. This initiative is the first of its kind in Africa and will provide answers thousands of youth who have been curious about A.I and Blockchain in the country. A joint announcement by Akoin and Effect.AI revealed that the hub is likely to be located near Mwale, Kakamega County.
The Kenyan opportunity hub, is modeled to benefit from the experience of a similar initiative that was launched in Rustavi, Georgia. The Rustavi initiative was set up for the same reasons they are about to set up the Kenyan operation, to promote A.I and Blockchain education in that jurisdiction.
Akon’s Blockchain campaign
Akon has been making waves lately in the Blockchain scene. After announcing plans to build a crypto city in his native Senegal back in January, he secured $4 billion funding from KE international early last month. The Senegal project will underline his startup AKOIN’s aim which is to push for massive crypto adoption in Africa. The “Locked up” hit maker also struck a deal with a Kenyan Billionaire, Julius Mwale that will see Akoin become the official currency in a futuristic Kenyan metropolis. The deal with the Kenyan Billionaire explains the choice of location for the soon to come “Kenyan Opportunity Hub”. The Mwale medical centre will provide state of the art facilities that will aid in innovations like tech-powered medical record translation.

I think it is a very good gesture from Akon that he is helping and best of all, it is through cryptocurrencies. I have also helped people who have been able to and have donated to foundations through the cryptocurrency platform
